Suspensory Fixation System for High-Load Joint Stability
The Double Button Implant for Ankle Syndesmosis Repair is a robust suspensory fixation system designed to restore distal tibiofibular stability following syndesmotic injury or disruption. The system consists of two low-profile titanium buttons connected via a high-strength, adjustable suture loop, enabling dynamic stabilization across the syndesmosis without rigid compression.
It can be passed through 3.5 mm drill hole by a needle which is assembled at the end of the loop suture.
Engineered for high-load bearing joints, the implant allows physiologic micromotion while maintaining anatomical alignment of the tibia and fibula. Its adjustable loop mechanism enables intraoperative tensioning, ensuring optimal reduction and fixation tailored to patient anatomy and injury severity.
Indications, Biomechanical Benefits, and Imaging Compatibility
This implant is indicated for:
Acute syndesmotic injuries (e.g., Weber B/C ankle fractures with diastasis)
Chronic instability requiring reconstruction
Post-traumatic syndesmosis malreduction
Compared to traditional screw fixation, the double button system offers early weight-bearing, reduced risk of hardware failure, and eliminates the need for routine implant removal. Its radiolucent profile supports clear postoperative imaging, and MRI compatibility ensures safe long-term follow-up.
Delivered sterile and preassembled, the system supports both single and dual cortical fixation techniques, and is compatible with minimally invasive approaches.
