Bioabsorbable Interference Screw
A resorbable fixation solution for soft tissue grafts in cruciate ligament reconstruction—engineered from medical-grade PLDL for secure fixation and predictable bioabsorption.
PLDL is a copolymer synthesized from L-lactide and D,L-lactide monomers, combining the mechanical strength of PLLA (Poly-L-lactic acid) with the faster degradation properties of PDLLA (Poly-D,L-lactic acid).
Key Features
- Biocompatibility: Compatible with body tissues, minimal inflammatory response.
- Absorption Time: 6–24 months.
- Mechanical Strength: Initial strength sufficient for stability.
- Degradation: Decomposes by hydrolysis, excreted as CO₂ and H₂O.
Advantages:
- Less hard tissue irritation than metal.
- Does not require a second removal operation.
- Radiolucent so does not create any artifacts on MRI and CT.
Indications
Indicated for soft tissue fixation in anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction procedures.
