FOOT DEFORMITY CORRECTION SYSTEM
Metatarsal lengthening fixators are mini external fixation systems applied to increase bone length on the toes (especially the 4th metatarsals). These systems are used in the surgical treatment of congenital or acquired deformities (e.g. brachymetatarsia) to provide functional and aesthetic improvement.
The lengthening procedure is based on the principle of distraction osteogenesis. In this technique, the bone ends are slowly and controlledly separated from each other by means of the fixator after the planned osteotomy, and new bone tissue formation is encouraged. This process, which usually lasts 3-6 weeks with a daily lengthening rate of 0.5-1 mm, is planned individually according to the patient's foot structure and the amount of lengthening.
Our fixator system:
- Increases patient comfort with its light and low-profile structure,
- Provides a safe distraction process by providing stability,
- Includes a modular design suitable for clinical follow-up and early intervention when necessary.
Metatarsal lengthening contributes to the improvement of walking biomechanics, shoe fit and foot balance, as well as aesthetic appearance.
